Special People Big Hearts!
“A mother’s eye is non-differentiating. To her, her child is unique, precious, and perfect. As a mother, I know this. When people see my photographs, I want them to see these children the same way they are seen through their mother’s eyes—beautiful, unique, loved, and full of potential.”
I started this project in 2016 as a loving dedication to my best friend’s sister, Akku, who was born with Down Syndrome. I was only eight years old when I first met her.
When I think of her, I remember the innocent smile that lit up her face every time she greeted me, her pure heart and her unconditional love.
An Advocate for Inclusion
Through my journey, I have learned that special needs encompass so much more than a diagnosis. As a lover of children and an inclusion advocate, I have had the honor of capturing the essence of children with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Dravet Syndrome, and many other genetic and non-genetic disabilities. I have learned the true meaning of the quote “see the ABLE not the LABEL”.
I remember meeting several children with Cerebral Palsy in a single day. While each child presented unique concerns and capabilities, making each of the shoot experience different; one thing remained constant: the glowing innocence of the children and the awe-inspiring resilience and determination of their mothers.
The Mission
Inclusion starts with “U” and “I.” In partnership with these mothers, who embody extraordinary love, patience and resilience, I use my lens as a medium for raising awareness. By honoring these moments through photography, I aim to unveil the radiant beauty and innocence that exists far beyond any label, revealing the soul that has always been whole.
My Approach:
- A Gentle, Patient Pace: These sessions are never rushed. I adapt to each child’s unique sensory needs and comfort levels.
- Capturing Connection: While I focus on the child’s essence, I also document the profound bond between the mother and child—the strength that holds it all together.
- Safe & Familiar Spaces: Sessions are held where the child feels most at ease, ensuring we capture their true, relaxed essence.
The Experience:
I believe that a photo session should be as gentle and joyful as the memories we are creating.
♡ A Typical Shoot:
Every family receives a complimentary pre-consultation, where I offer thoughtful outfit and styling guidance. Because the comfort of the child and parents is my utmost priority, I set no rigid rules or time constraints.Some sessions find their magic in 10 minutes, others unfold over 30—we simply follow the rhythm of the child.There are no stiff poses here. I work in a natural, candid style, offering minimal guidance only where it helps the light find your true connection.
♡ What I Bring to the Lens:
I come to every session with a happy spirit, an abundance of patience, and a deep love for the journey of motherhood. Many moms have kindly called me the “Child Whisperer.”I have been so fortunate to connect with every child I’ve met—whether it’s receiving a rare glance into the camera or a beautiful, unconditional smile.(On a lighter note: I often find the adults much more difficult to capture than the children!)
